The wisdom and courage of our residents, coupled with our animated service to this senior population—that’s what transforms mere moments beneath the MorningStar roof to awe-inspiring ones. And that’s what makes our ministry at MorningStar so spectacular, teaching as we are being taught, encouraging as we are being encouraged, bonding as is only possible with a tender realization of the fragility and wonderment of life.
We set the bar high at MorningStar, wanting to be more than just a senior living company. By the depth of our convictions and the strength of God’s grace, we are resolved to make a difference in the world with purpose-driven, servant-minded leadership.
And we’re intentional about creating a culture defined less by what we do and more by why we do it. At MorningStar, we call that culture Radiance. To “radiate” is to shine with a warmth and brilliance that emanates from a deep, abiding place. This is how we want to deliver Service Excellence at MorningStar: with sincerity and depth of purpose. More than a customer service program, Radiance is an attitude of the heart. Understanding our residents’ unmet needs, reading body language, nurturing connections, knowing life stories and preferences, surprising and delighting … these are the pathways to radiant service. Every team member of Morningstar of Sparks has a rooted appreciation for the abundant effect they can have on seniors’ lives.
“It’s about maintaining the critical balance between margin and mission,” Jaeger explains. “When we stand up and say we’re going to honor God in our business practices and relationships, we’re committing to do the right thing all the time, not just when it’s convenient. Families, as much as investors, are looking for that brand of clarity and integrity.”
At MorningStar, resident days are filled with opportunities to ignite a plan that enhances health and wellness, stimulates the brain and encourages community. Whether physical, intellectual, spiritual or social, our Life Enrichment Team at MorningStar of Sparks present creative ways to stay active and productive for man’s good and God’s glory. Today it might be a wine tasting, on Thursday an Alzheimer’s Association fundraiser and Saturday evening a gala commemorating resident artistry. Residents partake of art lectures, culinary lessons, and jet setting to the newest attractions in Reno and Northern Nevada. Yet the feature we brag about the most, the prevailing spirit that contributes most to health and wellness, is our atmosphere of love—for we are building Family for Life.
Part of MorningStar’s chosen responsibility as a company is to invest our time and talents in charitable projects close to home and around the world. Taking a decided lead in this is MorningStar’s Founder/CEO, Ken Jaeger, who is passionate about helping the poor in developing nations. Ken does not mince words when it comes to inspiring others to live a life of selfless giving. His words to his team are often these: “Don’t wait to serve. Serve now. Today. Get involved somewhere, anywhere. It will make you a better person (and if you work for MorningStar, it will make you a better team member).
